Templeton 10 year rye in stock is, and always has been, a railroad town. During Prohibition, local bootleggers would smuggle Templeton Rye aboard livestock trains bound for Chicago and Al Capone.

As the years passed, the world around Templeton changed, but the railroad is still here and so is The Good Stuff.

Templeton Rye Special Reserve Anniversary 10 Year Old Rye Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose: Caramel, vanilla, baking spices, green apple.

Palate: Rye spice, toasted oak, white pepper, caramel, vanilla.

Finish: Huge rye spice, cinnamon, vanilla, long finish.

Distillery Information

It refers to rye whiskey originally made in Templeton, Iowa during the prohibition era as a way for farmers in the Carroll County area to supplement their income.

Amber in color, it was considered to be of particularly high quality and was popular in Chicago, Omaha, and Kansas City speakeasies.

Templeton has released just 6,080 bottles of this 101-proof spirit, made from 34 barrels, all packaged in a hand-numbered bottle and sold in a commemorative box. The label of this Special Reserve features the train that runs through the town of Templeton, Iowa.
