KI ONE Korean Single Malt Whisky
KI ONE Korean Single Malt Whisky. Samsa Distillery is the first and only single malt distillery in South Korean Single Malt Whisky history, established in 2020. The name Sansha Distillery is named after the three souls who make up the distillery, founder Bryan Do, Scottish chief bartender Andrew Shand and all Korean distillery employees.
The founder, Bryan, founded Three Societies Distillery with the idea of changing the drinking culture in Korea, hoping to bring high-quality locally-made wine to Korea. He is also the founder of Korean craft beer brand Hand & Malt. Bartender Andrew has more than 40 years of winemaking experience and has worked for a number of Scottish distilleries, including The Glenlivet, Chivas Regal, Nikkia, Speyside Distillery and more.
The winery is located in Namyangju, a city about 40 minutes north of Seoul, South Korea. The local temperature can be as high as 38°C in summer and as low as -18°C in winter. The four seasons are completely different. It has a special and extreme aging environment, which makes the aging efficiency higher. Because the temperature difference between the four seasons in Korea is larger than that in Scotland, and the natural temperature difference can reach 56°C, the whisky matured in South Korea for only 13 months can be comparable to the whisky matured in Scotland for seven to eight years.
